You can test the resistance of the coil with a multimeter - no idea what it should be off the top of my head as I have a few and usually just swap for a known good one ![]()
You need to check both the primary (positive to king lead connector) and the secondary (king lead to negative) coils ![]()
**EDIT** I assume you've already done the hold a spark plug connected to the ht lead near a tinware screw open the points with a screwdriver to see if you get a spark test?

Yes i have carried out the bottom suggestion, but i tried again this morning and it has sparked into life again ?? hey ho!! Thanx tho
Could be breaking down when hot (common fault) so keep an eye on it.

You could find an auto electricians and get them to do a full test on it but it may just be cheaper to buy a spare and carry it with you.
ok thanx for that
reckon it is breaking down as probs firing again?? The coil felt really hot aswell is that right ??
Time for a new one! you might have to replace the condenser as well. (o\!/o)
