Topic: Matt or Gloss??
Almost at the mot stage for the buggy, but i still have the sides left to paint,
no pods just the fibreglass that goes down to the chassis,
now i'm geared towards black gloss because its shiny and we all (most) like shiny!
but i'm also thinking black matt so the shiny gelcoat would look good against it,
what do you think would be the better looking of the 2?
i have some cans of black por 15 left and its more of a satin finish rather than gloss or matt.. help!
the photo is the only one i have of the sides, this was taken when the shell turned up

Almost there!

Re: Matt or Gloss??
Great buggy, it will be such a hoot once this grim weather goes.
I think matt black looks best, as it hides the the non gel coated glass fibre.
This may be a bit ''blue peter'', if you get a roll of black crepe paper from an art shop, blu tac it to the side. then take a photo.
Then get some gloss black wrapping ( or Fablon ) and do the same.
Alternatively. Paint matt black, if you don't like it, paint with gloss! Shimples ;lol;

Almost finished? - well, getting closer. Got a few odds and ends to sort out then try to fire it up. Engine hasn't been run for nearly three years. Also need to find a 'sympathetic' MOT tester!

Re: Matt or Gloss??
Fit wipers, exhausts, set timing and carburation, have a go at setting the tracking, fit number plates and light, fiddle with the suspension to cure the the slight lean to the nearside plus probably a hundred other niggly things. My biggest worry is the engine. It's a 1600tp bought second hand. I had it running for 5 minutes when I bought it and it seemed OK. I've since done a top end rebuild as a precaution which didn't reveal any horrors but you never know!. The gearbox was also a used buy which I haven't been able to test yet. Fingers crossed!

Re: Matt or Gloss??
fingers are crossed! my main problem is motivation! might be more tempted to finish it if it was somewhat warmer! what exhaust will you be using?

Are you sure thats a pic of your exhaust? It looks like an M.C. Escher drawing to me.
Seriously, that is going to turn heads everywhere you go this summer both for the looks and for the sound. It is so cool it will stop global warming everywhere it goes

Re: Matt or Gloss??
well i painted it!
Done in por15 semi gloss, all i had! and i am very pleased with the result!
and for bea i am currently uploading a video of the exhaust onto the internet, the titanium silencer isn't fitted yet, i'm still waiting for the adapter part, and i realised i need to move the reverse and fog lights because you cant see the fog light behind the exhaust! great, another job!
